Cottonwood Holistic Family Health is owned and managed by Jay Ciotti, MD and Suzanne Ciotti, MD. Both were again voted #1 and #2 Family Physicians in Durango! They have been providing quality, well-rounded healthcare in Durango for 20 years. Both are Board Certified in Family Medicine. They each received their medical degrees from the University of Kansas. They also have training and experience in a variety of complementary medical therapies to offer an integrative health approach. Jonathan “Jonti” Fox, PA-C, Physician Assistant, is an integral part of the healthcare team. Learn more about the roles of a Physician Assistant here.

We are also very pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Andrew Clarkinson, D.O. to our health-care team.  We are confident that his personalized, compassionate approach compliments the style our patients have grown to appreciate at Cottonwood Holistic Family Health. He is experienced in the full breadth of Family Medicine and sees patients of all ages for Annual check ups and routine medical needs.

We are also announcing the departure of Dr Christie Koch who will seek opportunities elsewhere this summer.

All of our providers see patients of all ages, both male and female, and are trained and experienced in routine Women’s Health issues including doing Annual Preventive Exams and Pap smears, and managing chronic and acute conditions.

Jay Ciotti, MD

Durango Herald Reader’s Choice Best Physician in Durango Award 2013, 2015, and 2017-2022. Jay Ciotti, MD has over 20 years experience in evaluating and utilizing evidence-based medicine and evidence-based alternatives, which allows him to recommend a variety of approaches to wellness. His strong foundation in traditional medical evaluation and a variety of alternative diagnostic testing, including functional medicine, helps guide individualized therapies for his patients.

Dr. Jay enjoys having a family practice in a small community. It gives him the ability to know his patients personally through their stories and concerns. His overall philosophy is to prescribe therapies that are gentle in nature first before recommending medication. While medication can be useful, even necessary, it requires thoughtful management, as does alternative therapies. Helping patients balance healthcare options and maximize “lifestyle treatments” such as eating right, getting adequate sleep and participating in regular physical activity is the cornerstone of his practice.

Andrew Clarkinson, DO

Andrew Clarkinson was born and raised in a small town in rural northwest Montana.  He is a graduate of Carroll College and Pacific University of Health Sciences.  Following medical school, Dr. Clarkinson completed residency in Spokane , Washington and is Board Certified in Family Medicine.  He values the relationships he builds with patients and the opportunity to care for them as unique individuals. Dr. Clarkinson has particular interests in cardiovascular health, sports medicine, osteopathic manipulation, acute and chronic illness management, dermatology and promoting lifestyle as a foundation for health and wellness.

Outside of work, Dr. Clarkinson enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his 2 young children and his wife, Erin, a Durango native and also a practicing physician.

Jonathan “Jonti” Fox, Physician Assistant (PA-C)

From emergency room and urgent care experience to family medicine, Jonti brings 20 years of medical expertise to Cottonwood. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies, obtaining special recognition in the field of primary care. He is licensed to evaluate and treat patients and has full prescriptive authority in Colorado. He also has a strong interest in wilderness medicine and experiential education.

Jonti’s breadth of experience and compassionate approach helps support patients in taking personal responsibility for their own healing and wellness. Originally from England, Jonti has lived in Durango since 1998. Spending time with his family and friends is a priority. His two wonderful daughters keep him honest and sharp. Running on local trails, rafting the river, playing the bass in a bluegrass band and singing in a local barbershop quartet takes up much of his free time.
